Privacy policy

gobench runs the gobench apps and decides how the personal data in them is used.

Write to privacy@gobench.me about anything in this policy.

Your account: your name, phone number, email address, time zone and settings, and your password, which we keep only in a form that cannot be read back.

If you train: your date of birth, sex, height, weight, goals, training experience, where you train, and any body areas you train around with your note on them.

If you coach: your bio, photo, what you coach, your experience, how and where you coach, your gyms, and the documents you send to be verified.

Your training record: sessions, exercises, sets, loads and reps, programmes, schedules, bookings and notes.

If you sell: where to pay you (an M-Pesa number or a bank account), your KRA PIN, your residency, and your sales and payouts.

Purchases: what you bought and the store's confirmation that it was paid. We never see your card.

Your phone: its push notification token and whether it runs iOS or Android.

Safety: the people you block and the reports you make.

AI: the reads written about your training, your feedback on them, and a record of each call to an AI provider: when, which model and what it cost, never what was sent.

Which version of these documents you accepted, and when.

To run gobench: your account, coaching, logging, progress, bookings and notifications.

To pay sellers and meet tax law, including withholding tax on sellers' income.

To keep people safe and gobench secure: reports, blocks, sign-in, and limits on misuse.

To write AI reads of your training, only while the terms you accepted allow it and AI is on in your settings.

We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.

Your coach sees your profile and the training logged while they coach you, and more of your history only if you share it.

Services that run parts of gobench for us, and only for that: the hosting of our servers, Ably for live updates, Expo for push notifications, Google for maps and place search, and the service that sends sign-in codes by SMS.

AI providers, Anthropic, OpenAI and Google, receive the facts of a period to write a read, with names replaced by codes. We never send your injuries or your notes. Their paid services do not train their models on what we send.

The App Store and Google Play, for what you buy through them.

The Kenya Revenue Authority, for what tax law requires about sellers' income.

Anyone else only when the law requires it.

Some of these services process data outside Kenya, among them the AI providers, Ably, Expo and Google. We use them only under the safeguards Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019 requires.

As long as you have an account. When you ask us to delete it, we delete your data, except what follows.

Records of purchases, sales, payouts and tax are kept as long as tax law requires.

The record of each AI call is kept without naming you.

AI reads are deleted when you turn AI off, and a read that was replaced is deleted after 90 days.

Passwords are kept only in a form that cannot be read back, payout accounts and KRA PINs are encrypted, and data travels over encrypted connections.

Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, you can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, object to a use of it, or have a copy to take elsewhere. Write to privacy@gobench.me.

You can turn AI off in Settings at any time.

If you think we have mishandled your data, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

gobench is for people of 18 and over, or younger with a parent or guardian who has agreed to the terms with them.

When this policy changes, we show you the new version before it applies, and you accept it with the terms.
